Rangers: Ross McCausland rumours dubbed ‘simply false’ but cut-price Ibrox exit remains on the cards

Rangers are confident that Ross McCausland will sign a new deal, although a cut-price deal to leave Ibrox does remain on the cards for now, according to The 4th Official.

Writing via their Patreon page (22 November), The 4th Official reported that claims McCausland has “little interest” in signing a new deal at Ibrox are “simply false,” with the Gers of the belief that talks are heading in the right direction and the 20-year-old will eventually commit his long-term future.

Although there is widespread interest across England, Spain and Italy, no club will offer the player the same chances to develop, with McCausland reportedly happy with the opportunities he is getting in Glasgow.

Should the player fail to renew by next summer when his contract expires, the club will only be entitled to a training compensation fee, which can be as little as £350,000.

Positive development

This news will certainly be music to many Rangers supporters’ ears. McCausland is an exciting young talent and tying him down to a new deal at the club can only be a positive for all parties involved.

What makes this deal even more important is that a new contract would see the club avoid losing the 20-year-old next summer for the minimal fee that is being reported. If this were to happen, it would represent a huge financial loss for the Gers.

Should they convince McCasuland to sign a new deal in Glasgow, the fee they could one day generate for him could be extremely significant.

Therefore, a new contract for McCasuland should be top of the priority list at this moment in time. While it might not lead to much short-term gain, which the club are in desperate need of right now as they chase down Celtic, the long-term impacts could be hugely beneficial.

In other Rangers news, the club have hatched a new plan to stop recent “madness.”
