Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz responds on social media after being caught in bizarre incident on international duty
Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz has responded on social media after being caught up in a bizarre incident while away on international duty.
The Turkey international was handed a yellow card while on the bench in his country’s 3-2 win over Germany on Saturday (18 November), but the left-back caused much confusion as fans on social media questioned who had been booked because they couldn’t see who it was wearing a hat, snood, gloves and a large jacket.
After the incident caused a bit of a stir, the 22-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday (19 November) to confirm it was him that received the caution, as he posted a picture of himself with a hands-up emoji and a laughing face.
Strange
It was a rather strange incident for Yilmaz to be caught up in as the game was already into injury time when he received his yellow card.
It’s no surprise that many people were left confused by who had been booked as it’s pretty impossible to work out who the player in question is.
Although Yilmaz probably didn’t do his chances of coming off the bench any favours by picking up the card, he will have been delighted to see Turkey pick up an excellent victory over Germany.
The left-back seemed in pretty good spirits when he responded to the incident on social media despite sitting on the bench all game on what looked to be a pretty cold night in Berlin.
He will be hoping to get a run out when his country faces Wales in their final European Championship qualifier on Tuesday (21 November) after they have already secured their place at the tournament.
