Official Rangers partner calls for ‘obvious’ Lawrence Shankland transfer after Hearts striker’s 92nd-minute Scotland goal

Lawrence Shankland is both the “obvious” and the “correct” transfer move for Rangers after his late dramatic intervention for Scotland, according to 4 Lads Had A Dream.

The official club partner reacted via Twitter on 16 November after the Hearts striker netted a 92nd-minute equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Georgia in the European qualifier to call for a switch to Ibrox.

The 28-year-old has been increasingly linked to a Rangers move this season, amid Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers struggling to find their feet, after Philippe Clement revealed he had followed the Scot since his time at Beerschot in Belgium.

4 Lads wrote: “Just because it’s obvious doesn’t mean it isn’t correct Rangers. Shankland.”

The Jambos skipped scored in both the recent meetings between the two sides, despite the Light Blues winning the SPFL meeting at Ibrox and the subsequent Viaplay Cup semi-final at Hampden a week later.

Possible?

On paper it appears to make perfect sense to push for the man who scored 24 league goals last season, having swung and missed on Dessers and Lammers in the summer.

But having spent well over £10million on the misfiring pair, along with fellow striker Danilo, it remains to be seen what cash will be available in the New Year.

Shankland has been tipped to score every week if he were to be supplied by the likes of Todd Cantwell and company at Rangers, but some feel that ship might have already sailed.

The recent accounts stated that £21m had been spent over the summer amid Michael Beale’s failed rebuild, leading to a suggestion that the cupboards are bare at Ibrox for more transfer activity without generating money through sales.

But with Clement sure to want to be able to address a squad that is evidently lacking, since it got the man who reshaped it fired, the club’s hierarchy is sure to have promised him something in the upcoming window.

Hearts aren’t just going to roll over and hand their captain to the Gers on a plate so it is surely going to cost if a deal is on the cards.

And it may have only been Shankland’s second international goal, and first since 2019, but it came in headline-grabbing fashion at a time when interest in his services is being widely touted already.

In other Rangers news, an exciting Ibrox ace has been told he’d be “silly” to make the wrong decision amid talks over his future.
