Galatasaray want to sign Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz in January, his exit stance has emerged today

Galatasaray have enquired with Rangers about how much they would have to pay to sign Ridvan Yilmaz, according to Sozcu.

The Turkish newspaper reported on Thursday (16 November) that the Super Lig club are looking to strengthen in the January transfer window by adding “local stars”, including the 22-year-old Gers left-back.

But after signing for the Light Blues from Besiktas in 2022, it said Yilmaz is “not keen” on a return to Turkey despite the fact that he could be persuaded by the lure of Champions League football.

Pay up

It’s unlikely that Rangers are going to be too keen to offload Yilmaz unless they receive a reasonable fee to allow him to make the return to Turkey.

Although he is currently the backup option to Borna Barisic, he could be in line for minutes at Ibrox before too long as the 31-year-old isn’t getting any younger.

A key factor will probably come down to whether the Turkish international is willing to bide his time and wait for his opportunity in the first team to come on a consistent basis.

There are signs that he could be emerging as a genuine contender to compete with Barisic for a place at left-back after making three starts since Philippe Clement arrived at the club.

But with six weeks still to go until the January transfer window, the situation could still change dramatically to present question marks over whether or not he will complete the season in Glasgow.
