Rangers given lucky escape as Ryan Kent now set to be sold by Fenerbahce

Former Rangers winger Ryan Kent looks set to be sold by new side Fenerbahce already in what appears to be a lucky escape for the Gers.

Kent departed Ibrox at the end of last season after turning down the offer of a new contract [Daily Record], ending his four-year spell in Glasgow.

The Englishman took a surprising career choice by moving to Turkey, and it is fair to say that decision has not exactly paid off so far.

Rangers

Kent has played 134 minutes for Fenerbahce across their opening 12 Super Lig matches – the equivalent of about one-and-a-half of their games.

The 26-year-old clearly let his frustrations known last month when deleting all posts about Fener on his personal Instagram account.

Now, Turkish outlet Haber7 reports that manager Ismail Kartal considers Kent’s performances for the club to have been “below expectations”.

The report suggests that Kent could be sold in January, just seven months on from joining the Yellow Canaries.

That would be quite the fall from grace for the Liverpool academy product, who it must be remembered set Rangers back around £7million.

The Gers would have liked to have made at least some of that money back, but it was not to be as he departed on a free contract – although the club was largely to blame for that.

Rangers

However, if his performances this season are anything to go by, Rangers are fortunate he is still not on their books picking up a hefty wage.

This is not to say fans should revel in seeing Kent shut out at his new club, but it does go to show that Rangers are not merely a stepping stone.

Kent may well turn things around in the coming weeks, but it is now looking increasingly likely that he will be back on the market very soon.
