Rangers told to complete ‘fantastic’ Lawrence Shankland deal as cheque-book view emerges

Rangers should look to complete a move to sign Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, according to Craig Moore.

Speaking to The Go Radio Football Show on Tuesday (14 November, via Football Scotland), the pundit said the Gers should be getting their chequebook ready to sign the 28-year-old forward.

He added that the Scotland international is “as good as any” other striker domestically and that he could help the Light Blues compete for trophies on a regular basis.

“If I was Rangers, I would be getting my chequebook ready,” said Moore. “I think he’d be a fantastic addition to the Rangers squad.

“I think to be challenging for trophies which Rangers want to do, you need goalscorers who can score goals. Domestically he is as good as any. He’s matured greatly in the last couple of seasons.”

Interesting

This would be an extremely interesting move for Rangers to try and make happen as Shankland has proven himself to be one of the best forwards in the Scottish Premiership.

He’s scored 10 goals and laid on two assists in 19 appearances for Hearts so far this season, with two of those strikes coming against the Gers.

The Scotsman has registered 38 goals and six assists in 66 games for the Jambos and he is the type of leader Philippe Clement would be looking to add to his side after captaining the Edinburgh club.

Rangers

They would be likely to want a reasonable fee to allow their captain to leave, though, so any deal would have to make financial sense for the Light Blues.

But it certainly would be a transfer that’s worth looking into as he would add something different to the attacking options already at Ibrox.
