Rangers: Philippe Clement in tense waiting game over Ross McCausland future as Sky Sports journalist shares update

Rangers are enjoying a superb spell under new manager Philippe Clement, who has got the best out of several players at Ibrox.

One of which is young winger Ross McCausland, who was handed his first start by Clement in the match with Livingston on Sunday (12 November).

The 20-year-old played 78 minutes in the Scottish Premiership clash, which Rangers won 2-0 thanks to goals from Cyriel Dessers and James Tavernier.

Gers sensation McCausland also found the back of the net with a superb finish, but his goal was chalked off by VAR due to a foul by teammate Abdallah Sima.

With that strike and with the youngster’s recent displays, Clement and Gers supporters know they have a real talent on their hands.

Worryingly, however, McCausland’s contract at Ibrox expires next summer, but the club have now taken a major step to avoid losing him at the end of the season.

According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph (12 November), the Scottish giants have offered their young winger a new deal until summer 2027, with talks ongoing.

It comes amid interest from clubs in England and Europe, Joseph added, with Clement clearly keen to keep hold of the attacker.

The manager now faces a tense waiting game over McCausland’s decision, with the player perhaps keen on spreading his wings and testing himself at a higher level.

The youngster running down his current deal really would be the worst outcome for Rangers, who simply could not afford to lose such a talent for free at the end of his contract.

In other Rangers news, one Gers star has sent a message to McCausland after what he did in the 2-0 victory against Livingston.
