Fashion Sakala reacts to Philippe Clement in brand new Rangers verdict
Fashion Sakala has offered his verdict on Philippe Clement, suggesting that Rangers have “got the right man” to bring success back to Ibrox.
The Belgian has started well since replacing Michael Beale in Glasgow and remains unbeaten with Rangers, including a Europa League win over Sparta Prague and a Viaplay Cup success to book a place in December’s final against Aberdeen.
Rangers’ upturn in form under their new manager has lifted the mood around Ibrox and Sakala, who was sold by Beale this summer, remains positive about the Gers’ title hopes under their new boss, despite “the other team’s” early lead.

As quoted by The Herald (14 November) he said: “I think Rangers got the right man. I know him from Belgium when he was Genk and Brugge manager. When he was at Genk, they were flying.
“He left Genk and they went down, and he went to Brugge, and Brugge were flying. So, I think Rangers got the right man to do the job there and I can see already the results and the way the team is playing that they are doing very well.
“The big question is ‘can Clement win the league?’ And I think looking at the way the team are performing, I am very positive. Rangers are looking good. Of course, the other team are doing well but I’m a Rangers boy and I hope Rangers keep winning and win the league.
“I’d be very happy for them to win the league.”
A Rangers boy
Before even thinking about Sakala’s opinion of Clement, it is clear that there is still plenty of love between the forward and Rangers. Not only did he describe himself as a Rangers boy, he wouldn’t even say Celtic and instead referred to them as “the other team.”
While he may not have been the most clinical forward to grace Ibrox, supporters could never doubt that the 26-year-old gave his all to the cause on the pitch and at times this season they could have done with him in their squad.

Clement certainly appears to be the “right man” judging by the early signs during his tenure in Glasgow, an unbeaten start since succeeding Beale and a shot at silverware in December against Aberdeen in the Viaplay Cup could almost be considered perfect.
But it is still very early days for the Belgian and as Beale found out, you have to win consistently at Ibrox to be deemed a success. Hopefully, Clement will be able to guide Rangers to success this season and who knows, maybe Sakala will be right and the Gers can fight back to win the Scottish Premiership.
