Chris Sutton reacts live on Sky Sports to controversial incident in Rangers win v Livingston: ‘Correct decision’
Chris Sutton believes it was the “correct decision” to rule out Connor Goldson’s goal for Rangers against Livingston on Sunday (12 November).
Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on Sunday (01:07pm), the pundit said forward Cyriel Dessers made a run across keeper Shamal George’s eye line before VAR judged him to have interfered with play when he found himself in an offside position.
He added that the 28-year-old Nigerian made an attempt to play the ball, with the Livingston keeper reacting to his movement before Goldson’s goal was eventually ruled out in the Gers’ 2-0 victory.

Asked if the Light Blues were harshly done by following the decision, Sutton said: “No because Dessers has made a run across the goalkeeper’s eye line.
“He’s made an attempt to play the ball, the goalkeeper reacts to that and pops it up in the air. I think it was the correct decision.”
Went for the ball
It was pretty clear that Dessers did make a play for the ball and that means that he was right to eventually be given offside.
Although the keeper should still probably have done a lot better, the Nigerian was in his eye line and he did react to the movement the forward made towards the ball.
It was unfortunate for the Gers as Leon Balogun then did superbly well to head the ball back across goal to provide Goldson with a tap-in from just a couple of yards out.

It didn’t matter too much in the end as Dessers put the Light Blues ahead not long after that with a well-taken finish before a James Tavernier penalty wrapped up the points in the second half.
It was another solid display under Philippe Clement and his side will now go into the international break full of confidence on the back of their recent results.
In other Rangers news, an “alarming” admission by one Gers star has gone under the radar at Ibrox.
