SPFL defends Rangers Viaplay Cup final decision as Aberdeen rage – BBC Sport
The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) has defended its decision to give Rangers more tickets than Aberdeen for the Viaplay Cup final, as per BBC Sport.
The publication reported on Wednesday (8 November) that around 25,000 tickets will go to the former and around 19,500 will go to the latter.
The two clubs will go head to head at Hampden Park on 17 December after Rangers defeated Hearts and Aberdeen overcame Hibernian.

“Aberdeen voiced ‘extreme disappointment and frustration’ that their counter proposal was rejected, but the league stood by its position,” according to BBC Sport.
“The SPFL said historic League Cup final and semi-final sales and segregation issues were among factors considered.”

Harsh
It is, of course, very harsh on everyone connected with Aberdeen that they will receive fewer tickets than their upcoming opponents. Given that it is a cup final at the national stadium, it would have certainly made sense to issue an equal allocation.
But that wasn’t what the SPFL thought, with Rangers supporters now undoubtedly set to provide more noise than Dons fans given that there will be more of them at Hampden in December.
Both clubs have worked equally hard to make it to this stage, but now Aberdeen may just have an excuse in their back pocket if they do not succeed on the day.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement won’t be focusing too much on this news, however, with the man in the dugout only concerned with matters on the pitch.
But the match is also over a month away, with plenty of crucial games for the Ibrox club scheduled before the big one at Hampden.
