Philippe Clement should be given open cheque to sign Abdallah Sima in January after positive Rangers news

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has had plenty of tests in his brief time in the Ibrox dugout so far, but the Belgian has undoubtedly passed those tests, with the boss unbeaten from his first five matches in charge.

He has picked up impressive victories against Hibernian, Hearts and Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, having also defeated Hearts in the Scottish League Cup.

A draw with Sparta Prague meanwhile in the Europa League means Gers fans have well and truly forgotten about former manager Michael Beale.

He struggled in various ways in the Ibrox hot seat, but the former boss does deserve some praise for bringing Abdallah Sima to the club.

The attacker arrived at Rangers in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan from Premier League club Brighton.

And he has immediately become a fan favourite in Scotland, with the forward finding the back of the net nine times in blue.

Such fine form has now garnered recognition, with Sima named as the Scottish Premiership Player of the Month for October, as per the official Rangers website (7 November).

It won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination, but Clement really should be doing his utmost to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal.

Free-scoring Brighton don’t exactly need the forward at this moment in time, but other interest may arise in Sima between now and the January transfer window.

The powers that be at Rangers are not always willing to spend big on new recruits, but they should be handing Clement an open cheque in order to bring Sima to Glasgow permanently.

In other Rangers news, one Gers loanee was “visibly gutted” after a “major moment to forget” for his temporary club.
