Sam Lammers handed opportunity to save Rangers career in starting XI v Sparta Prague
Philippe Clement has named his confirmed Rangers starting XI for the Europa League clash against Sparta Prague at Ibrox on 9 November, and it seems Sam Lammers will be given a chance to save his Ibrox career.
Lammers has kept his place in the Rangers starting lineup despite several poor displays of late, with a goal and an assist against Dundee hopefully giving him the inspiration he needs to kick on.
Given his poor start to the season, he could find himself on the way out already with Rangers assessing their options to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
Rangers have been heavily linked with a move for Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland [The Herald, 5 November], while TEAMtalk [7 November] claimed the Glasgow club have already started work on several new deals for the January window.
These updates could leave Lammers sweating over his future at Ibrox, with his continued poor displays leaving him on the chopping block for Clement as he assesses his squad ahead of the transfer window.
Speaking on Open Goal (2 November), Derek Ferguson slammed Lammers, labelling him “horrendous” and claiming the forward is lucky to have kept his starting place under Clement given his poor performances since arriving at Ibrox in the summer.
This was despite the forward notching a goal and an assist in the game, but Ferguson suggested these moments were in isolation of his general performance, while Lammers gave the ball away 14 times and won just three of his seven ground duels. [Sofascore]

If the forward can continue his form from the Dundee game, it could well secure his future at Ibrox, and he will need to continue to impress Clement if he wants to remain in the first-team despite a difficult start to his Rangers career.
Clement can only hold so much patience if he is going to continue to struggle, and this will be a crucial time to prove before the transfer window opens that he is not one of the many players who will need replacing.
