Rangers begin work for new January signing with Philippe Clement set to use Belgium connections

Rangers have begun work on multiple new signings in the January transfer window with Philippe Clement keen on fresh faces through the door, according to TEAMtalk.

The English media outlet reported on 7 November that Clement is set to use his Belgium connections to get certain deals over the line.

Scouts have also been working hard in Europe in order to present fresh options to the newly-appointed manager.

Need three signings

Rangers did go big in the summer and backed Michael Beale with most if not all his desired transfer targets.

However, of those, only a few of them have really hit the ground running and that’s something that has seen Gers play catch up to Celtic in the league.

A new midfielder is something that they need to bring in as Jose Cifuentes has not been good enough and Ryan Jacks’ age and fitness issues make him unreliable.

An out-and-out wide player wasn’t signed in the summer and may be needed in January as the current options like to play more centrally.

Clement may also demand a new centre-back as his current options are either unreliable or facing fitness issues and someone in their prime needs to be signed to partner Connor Goldson.

It’s going to be an interesting few weeks and hopefully, they bring in the right names through the door.

In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has claimed that a Gers first-team player will jump at the chance to leave Ibrox as a transfer story has emerged recently.
