Official Rangers partner backs Scott Wright to resurrect his career after what he did v Hearts

Scott Wright has been backed to “resurrect his career” at Rangers after being given a clean slate by manager Philippe Clement, according to Heart and Hand.

Wright has come back into the side at Ibrox after being on the verge of an exit in the summer window, scoring the second goal in a 3-1 win over Hearts to earn a place in the League Cup final at Hampden Park next month.

And writing on their official Twitter account (6 November), official club partner Heart and Hand admitted that they didn’t want to see Wright in a Ranger shirt again at one point but they’re now hopeful that Clement may be unlocking his talent finally.

“When Scott Wright got himself sent off v Aberdeen I really didn’t want or expect to see him in a Rangers shirt again,” they wrote.

“He hadn’t played well for 18 months. But the manager said everyone had a clean slate and he clearly meant it.

“Wright has a big chance to resurrect his career and he’s taking it so far. Sometimes a particular manager can unlock something unexpected in a player. Let’s hope that’s what we’re seeing here.”

Talent

Rangers have got a lot of talent in attack and while he may not be the best option we have on the wing, Wright has got talent and he has got attributes that we lack.

He’s a direct winger with good pace and a decent eye for goal, but his quality in the final third is a bit too inconsistent for him to be someone we rely upon too heavily.

However if Clement sees something in him and believes he can develop him and make him better then that can only be a good thing for us and it will make us better too.

If he keeps performing the way he has been in recent weeks then there is no reason why he shouldn’t keep his place in the team, and it will make competition for places even better which makes the floor of the squad rise.

Everything good that comes from this is a bonus because the majority of people had written Wright’s time at the club off already, so this is refreshing to see.
