Danilo gives verdict on new Rangers fan chant heard v Hearts at Hampden Park

Danilo is a big fan of the “brilliant” new chant aimed towards him by Rangers supporters during the Scottish League Cup semi-final win over Hearts.

The summer signing is starting to find his feet at Ibrox, having scored three times and assisted another in his past six appearances.

While Danilo was not on the scoresheet in the 3-1 win over Hearts at Hampden Park, he won the pen that James Tavernier scored for the opener.

Rangers

Danilo was serenaded with his new “he’s Brazilian, he’s only worth £6million” song, which the 24-year-old is already singing himself.

“The song is brilliant. I love hearing it,” Danilo said, as per Football Scotland [5 November].

“Yesterday actually I was with my wife and she said, ‘Dani are you going to sing your song?’ And I said, ‘yeah!’

“I just love this song and it’s become stuck in my head. I appreciate it.”

Confidence

Much like the majority of Rangers’ summer signings, Danilo made a slow start to his Ibrox career under Michael Beale.

Not helped by a spell on the sidelines with a head injury, the Brazilian has looked a player transformed in recent weeks.

Danilo’s potential was always clear to see, and now he is adding some end product to his game with goals and assists.

Rangers

His part in the opening goal against Hearts set the Gers on their way to a comfortable victory, setting up a showdown with Aberdeen in next month’s final.

New manager Philippe Clement has a few options to choose from in attack, but it is now looking as though Danilo is his preferred number nine.

Having already been given his own chant – one he clearly likes – let’s hope this growing confidence from Danilo translates into more goals.

In other Rangers news, Stevie Clifford believes there is a player Clement “undoubtedly” wants to sign in January.
