Ross McCausland exit news emerges at Rangers with English switch on the cards, Ibrox chiefs schedule sit-down

Ross McCausland is attracting interest from clubs in England as his contract at Rangers is due to expire at the end of the season, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on its website on Saturday (4 November) that new Gers boss Philippe Clement wants to tie the 20-year-old forward down to a long-term deal at Ibrox after clubs across the UK and Europe have been alerted to his availability.

It said Light Blues chiefs are set to sit down this week with the Northern Irishman, who would be available for just £300,000 in compensation once his deal expires.

Make it happen

It would be a blow for Rangers if they can’t agree a deal with McCausland as he is undoubtedly one of the most talented youngsters at the club.

The forward is exactly the type of player the Gers should be looking to play an important part in their side moving forward under Clement.

The Northern Irishman has featured three times off the bench in the Scottish Premiership since the Belgian joined the club last month and his role in the side could increase over the next few months.

Although receiving £300,000 in compensation would mark a significant profit on the £60,000 the Light Blues paid Linfield to sign him in 2019, they should be doing all they can to keep players like him at Ibrox.

They now need to persuade him that remaining in Glasgow is the best option for him to develop and that his chances in the first team will continue to improve.
