Rangers ‘should have signed’ Lawrence Shankland, Hearts ace is ‘such a good player’ – Tom English
Rangers “should have signed” Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, according to BBC Sport journalist Tom English.
The 28-year-old forward has scored 35 goals in 64 appearances for Rangers’s Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts, with eight coming this season.
Shankland was on target from the penalty spot as his side lost 3-1 to the Gers in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on Sunday (5 November).

“Shankland is just such a good player – a player Rangers should have signed,” English said live on BBC Sportsound (2.57pm, 5 November), as quoted by BBC Sport.

Top player
Shankland really is a top player and has been for quite some time, with goals easy to come by for the Hearts striker. Rangers spent big to improve that area in the summer transfer window, with then-manager Michael Beale bringing Danilo, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima to Ibrox.
Poor form from a lot of his summer signings led to many poor results, resulting in the manager’s dismissal last month.
Perhaps Beale would still be in the Ibrox dugout had he instead looked closer to home for a new hitman in the form of Shankland.
But Hearts supporters will be very happy that their captain stayed in Edinburgh, with Shankland a crucial player for manager Steven Naismith.
Clement meanwhile won’t be too disappointed with how things have turned out, with his attackers scoring for fun of late. On-loan ace Sima has been in fantastic form, with Danilo also starting to come to life for the Ibrox club.
In other Rangers news, a journalist has spotted something that could “go a long way” for one “beleaguered” Gers player.
