Philippe Clement creates media trepidation after what he has done at Rangers

Kenny Miller has shared a new sense of “trepidation” from the media when arriving at Rangers now for press conferences with Philippe Clement.

The BBC pundit admitted that the Belgian has a different presence around him, and is capable of giving the media a “death stare” if they don’t ask the right question.

It has been a breath of fresh air compared to Michael Beale, with the new manager quick not to give anything away when people are visiting desperate for news.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Record on Sunday [05 November], Miller shared the feeling around the club and training ground for visitors has changed.

“I’m not sure that he’s put a foot wrong since replacing Michael Beale,” he said.

“He’s got a presence about him. When the media boys turn up at press conferences, there’s a wee bit of trepidation now.

“They know if they don’t ask the right question, Clement won’t be slow to pull them up. He’s capable of giving them the death stare. So he’s got a bit of an aura about him. He keeps people on edge and hopefully, it’s the same with his players.”

Rangers

Brilliant.

The relationship between the media and Rangers has never been straightforward, to say the least.

Beale was criticised when he gave too much away but also scolded when not answering with a sort of relaxed attitude to the questions, something he could snap at.

Clement is firm in his way, and that has seen him gain so much more respect from the Ibrox faithful already, with zero information coming from the Belgian that isn’t already really known.

Of course, he will tell the media how long someone will be out for when it is known that they have an injury, such as Borna Barisic, but don’t expect him to go into too much detail on it.

Football is what does the talking for Clement, he is not a showman, and Beale will need to be reminded of that when he goes to his next club or he could find himself in the same position again.

Forget the media right now, a win at Hampden today is all that is needed.

In other Rangers news, Shankland should already be at Ibrox but “big move” may now never happen claims pundit.
