Michael Stewart cannot believe his eyes at John Lundstram for Rangers v Hearts
Michael Stewart was left stunned by the speed of John Lundstram in the first half of Rangers semi-final clash against Hearts in the ViaPlay Cup.
The English enforcer raced out of defence to start a counter-attack, embarrassing Calem Nieuwenhof, who was slammed for his lack of awareness.
Stewart admitted that Lundstram looked like an “absolute speedster” before the attack came to nothing in the end in a cagey opening few minutes.

Speaking live on ViaPlay [5 November, 15:09], Stewart could not believe his eyes at the midfielder bombing out of the back line to start an attack.
“John Lundstram looked like an absolute speedster there,” he said.
“I don’t know if it was Nieuwenhof was caught unaware or what, but it looked like the Hearts midfielder should have been over.”

Wow.
It was a moment that left most chuckling, but it is central to what Philippe Clement is trying to get his squad to do at Ibrox at all times.
Despite dominating possession for nearly every minute of most games, the Belgian also wants his team to be ready to win the ball back and counter-attack with great speed.
Lundstram isn’t known for that, but it has been pressed into him in a matter of weeks that the new manager has been at Auchenhowie and his handful of games.
That will only get better with time, but the end product after getting into those positions also has to be better or using all of that energy will just be wasted.
The early signs are very good under Clement, it is just all about nailing down that style and making it as effective as you possibly can, something that comes with time.
