Hugh Keevins moots Rangers media blackout as defamatory verdict emerges

Hugh Keevins has predicted that Philippe Clement has brought in a media “black-out” at Rangers when questioned on injury problems at Ibrox this week.

The Daily Record journalist shared that the Belgian was quizzed on the issues, but refused to answer in an effort to stop “defamatory” information from becoming public.

It is suggested that each time Clement speaks, the regret over hiring Michael Beale becomes larger after a positive start to life in Glasgow.

Writing in his column for the Daily Record on Sunday 05 November, Keevins mooted that the regret over Beale is only growing each time you see Clement.

“Every time Clement speaks he makes Beale sound like a bigger, even more regrettable, error of judgment by those who hired him,” he wrote.

“Asked last week if he could offer an opinion on Rangers’ chronic injury list, the Belgian said he could but his answer would not be for ‘you guys’.

“In other words, a media black-out to prevent defamatory material becoming public.”

Issue.

There was a clear issue at Ibrox before Clement arrived, that is very clear now.

The Belgian instantly referred to the problem and made it clear that he has now demanded that his players use the facilities at Auchenhowie that may have been abandoned before.

One example is the use of the cryo chamber, something which can be brilliant with recovery and by the sounds of it, was never really used under the management of Beale.

To have both sides of the argument though, injuries can be freak sometimes, take the problem picked up by Nicolas Raskin, who is now set for a spell on the sidelines too.

Despite all of that, the form on the pitch has picked up massively with Clement yet to lose and another win against Hearts in the semi-final of the ViaPlay Cup would cement that brilliant start and set him on his way to silverware.

With an international break to come before that final, if we get there, hopefully the squad would look much stronger should it descend on Hampden again.

In other Rangers news, a SPFL alternative could be leaving his current club in January and the Gers have been tipped to get involved.
