Rangers transfer news: £5million Bojan Miovski transfer tipped amid possible Aberdeen exit by Sky Sports pundit
Rangers “could do an awful lot worse” than attempting to sign Bojan Miovski in January as a new “hitman”, according to Kris Boyd.
The Sky Sports pundit wrote in his Scottish Sun column on 3 November that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if the Aberdeen forward was sold in the upcoming window and could cost around £5million.
While he accepts that price might be beyond Rangers after the money spent in the summer, as well as the Dons’ reluctance to sell to Ibrox, Boyd put the 24-year-old ahead of even Lawrence Shankland, another option he has tipped for the Light Blues, as the “best striker out of the lot” among the four Viaplay Cup semi-finalists this weekend, despite his increasingly positive view of Danilo.

Boyd said: “When it comes to Aberdeen, they probably have the best striker out of the lot. Miovski has impressed me a lot since he joined the club. And the more I see of the North Macedonia international, the more I have to think the Dons are lucky to still have him at the club.
“Put it this way, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was to be sold in the January window. That’s not something Dons fans will want to hear, especially where they are sitting right now. But Miovski’s displays at home and in Europe are certain to have attracted attention.
“If Rangers are looking for a new hitman in January then they could do an awful lot worse than making an attempt to sign him. I know, the chances of Aberdeen selling their best player to Gers are highly unlikely.
“I also reckon Miovski could command a fee of around £5million, and that’s probably a little too rich for Rangers’ blood right now, given the money they spent and wasted this summer.
“But there’s no doubt the Dons talisman will be interesting clubs. He’s a handful, someone with terrific movement and technical ability, and he clearly knows how to finish with nine goals already this season.”
Cavalry
After Shankland’s goalscoring performance at Ibrox last weekend, and with the Hearts captain again set to face Rangers at Hampden on Sunday (5 November), most of the focus has been pointed towards him for January.
With Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers struggling to justify their summer signings it is widely assumed that Philippe Clement will have to return to the market in the winter.
But Miovski would be another attractive option given he has already netted nine times in all competitions this season, after scoring 18 last term, including 16 in the SPFL in his first season of Scottish football.

The late £5million sale of Glen Kamara to Leeds United before the transfer deadline [The Athletic, 31 August] might offer hope that one of the Jambos or Dons scorers might be a viable option in the New Year, despite the £14million spent on Dessers [Football Scotland, 30 June], Lammers [Daily Record, 15 June] and Danilo [Sky Sports, 28 July] combined.
While all three Rangers men were on the score sheet in the 5-0 win at Dundee on 1 November only the Brazilian has looked like he might prove to be a worthy purchase so far.
It would leave some spare parts at Ibrox to add yet another striker, with the perennially-injured Kemar Roofe also still in the squad, but if Clement wants to mount a title charge he is going to need reliable sources of goals.
It is unlikely that takers could be found for Lammers or Dessers, and it is easier said than done to sign any club’s star man in January, but speculation is continuing to mount around Shankland and now Miovski ahead of the window opening.
In other Rangers news, Tom English has suggested legal action could be on the cards as he fumed at a Gers update.
