Neil McCann shares verdict on Rangers v Hearts semi-final live on BBC after what happened last night
Neil McCann expects Rangers to now be full of confidence for their Scottish League Cup semi-final against Hearts after their thumping win at Dundee.
The Gers eased to a 5-0 victory at Dens Park on Wednesday (1 November) in a game heavily delayed by traffic and then halted two minutes after kick-off due to flares being set off in the away end.
Ryan Jack, Danilo, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and James Tavernier were all on the scoresheet as Rangers made it three Scottish Premiership wins in a row under Philippe Clement.
That includes a dramatic 2-1 comeback win at Hearts last weekend, with the sides now set to reconvene at Hampden Park on Sunday (5 November) for their cup semi.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene [1 November, 1hr 13m 48s], McCann said: “I think there’ll be a real good feeling about Rangers right now.
“They scored at the death against Hearts and put on a really good performance today, with guys who haven’t really hit the heights scoring, which sets it up nicely for the semi-final.”
Keep it up
The goalless Europa League draw away to Sparta Prague and late win over Hearts were seen as a case of job done for Rangers, rather than anything to get massively excited about.
But when you factor in the 4-0 win over Hibernian and 5-0 win at Dundee either side, this has been a hugely encouraging start to Clement’s tenure.
It means the Gers have now won four and drawn one of their past five games heading into the Hearts showdown in Edinburgh, with the winners of that tie facing either Hibernian or Aberdeen in next month’s final.

Forward trio Danilo, Lammers and Dessers getting on the scoresheet against Hearts was particularly good to see, as all three could do with a confidence boost.
Clement will still no doubt want even more from his side but, at the same time, supporters cannot afford to get too carried away.
Defeat to Hearts this coming weekend would all of a sudden put a negative slant on things, so let’s just hope the Light Blues can keep this momentum going.
