Danilo accusation made on BBC Sportscene as footage emerges of Rangers win v Dundee
BBC Sport pundit Neil McCann has accused Rangers forward Danilo of being “too clever” with his finishing, despite getting on the scoresheet in his side’s 5-0 win at Dundee.
The Gers eased to victory at Dens Park on Wednesday (1 November) to remain within five points of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.
Danilo scored the second of his side’s goals, but McCann believes he could have had a lot more had he taken a simpler approach when one-on-one.

“I think he’s shown he’s got the movement, he’s got the pace and he’s got an eye about where he should be that suggests he should be successful,” McCann told BBC Sportscene [1 November, 1hr 10m 16s].
“What he needs to work on is that end product, the finishing – he could easily have had five or six goals tonight.
“It’s that movement, that touch. He comes short, plays it, works his way in [to the box], takes another touch here but then he tries to be too cute. He just needs to slide that down low and it’s in the back of the net.”
Of another squandered Danilo chance, McCann said: “Sometimes you try to be too clever. This is another one that requires him to just steer it down low but he tries to go for the top corner and gets it all wrong.
“But his movement tonight really troubled Dundee, and he’s proving that once he gets goals and confidence, understands the league, he looks as though he could be a real good find for Rangers.”
Promising
Danilo can be happy with both his and his side’s work at Dens Park after registering in a deserved victory that keeps the momentum going under Philippe Clement.

The Brazilian does look raw at times, but there is no doubt that his movement and link-up play in the final third are improving by the week.
A spell on the sidelines with a facial injury has not helped with his adaption period, but he now has four goals and an assist in nine matches since joining from Feyenoord.
Danilo’s displays against Hearts and Dundee in particular should get supporters excited as, despite some rash finishing at times, he was constantly getting in promising positions.
Once he works on that composure, the Gers have a player on their hands easily capable of registering double figures across the course of the league campaign on a regular basis.
