Official Rangers partner calls for Ridvan Yilmaz to get run of starts ahead of Borna Barisic
Four Lads Had A Dream have called for Ridvan Yilmaz to get a run of games ahead of Borna Barisic to stake his claim as the Rangers first-choice left-back.
The Turkish left-back joined in a £4m deal in the summer of 2022 but has struggled with injuries and failed to get an extended run in the team, even being left out of the European squad for this season by previous boss Michael Beale.
But with Barisic’s performances failing to impress, the club’s official partner have called (1 November) on Ridvan to get a run despite Barisic having a “superior crossing ability” because we already know what the Croatian has to offer.

“Looking elsewhere it would appear that Clement also has to consider who is our first-choice left-back,” they wrote.
“Borna has been favoured for the most part over the last 2 years despite his passing become increasingly backwards but injuries haven’t been kind to Ridvan and I’m not sure his performance on Sunday was one that makes him a cast iron selection when the Croatian returns.
“For my money I’d give Yilmaz a run of games – something he hasn’t really had – and see what he can do. We know what we are going to get from Borna, including a superior crossing ability it has to be said, but I’d just like to see a bit more of Ridvan before sitting him back on the bench.”
Opportunity
All we as fans want to see is that the right players are getting opportunities because it means that Rangers can become a better team.
Barisic has reached his peak at Ibrox and has been very good for the most part, but over the last 18 months he has struggled for form and now it’s time to look elsewhere.

The club spent big on bringing in Ridvan almost 18 months ago and while injuries haven’t helped him, he has also been cast aside by Beale on occasion when he didn’t need to be.
This is the perfect time for him to get the nod for a string of games to really show what he’s capable of and if he can be the first-choice option going forward.
Considering Barisic’s current contract is due to expire in the summer, there is no time better than now to find out if we need to dip back into the market in the summer or if his replacement is already at the club.
