Todd Cantwell sends five-word message to Rangers captain James Tavernier as milestone celebrated

Rangers ace Todd Cantwell has sent a five-word message to his teammate and captain of the club James Tavernier.

The social media message comes as the latter recently celebrated his birthday, having turned 32 on Tuesday (31 October).

The veteran right-back has made over 400 appearances for the Scottish outfit, having joined from Wigan Athletic in 2015.

After sending a birthday message to his captain on Instagram, Rangers ace Cantwell wrote to Tavernier: “Living legend, it’s a pleasure.”

Leader

Tavernier has been a Gers leader for a long, long time now, with the captain crucial to the club with his feats both on and off the pitch.

The defender certainly knows what it takes to handle the responsibility, with not many leaders present at Ibrox in recent seasons.

But he has donned the armband expertly, with fans and teammates all fully aware of just how important he views the role.

The right-back has been key in helping his club stay tight at the back, but his attacking achievements have also been very important.

The 32-year-old boasts triple figures for both goals and assists in blue, which is a remarkable achievement given his position on the pitch.

New Rangers manager Philippe Clement has unsurprisingly turned to Tavernier to lead his side, and that is definitely a smart decision given his experience and the respect he has at the Ibrox club.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have scouted an international midfielder, with a January transfer on the cards for the player.
