Rangers investigation underway after Kemar Roofe injury developments
Investigations are underway at Ibrox to discover the root of Rangers striker Kemar Roofe’s injury woes, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported in its print edition (1 November, page 69) that while a number of players are returning to action following injury absences, the Light Blues are continuing to investigate to try and find the “root cause” of Roofe’s fitness problems.
Roofe last appeared for Rangers on 8 October in the Gers’ 3-0 win over St Mirren but was substituted just after the hour mark and has been absent since, barring an inclusion among the substitutes in Philippe Clement’s first match in charge against Hibernian.

The Jamaican striker has struggled to avoid injury throughout his time in Glasgow and only made three Scottish Premiership appearances last season as he suffered a knee injury before requiring hip surgery [Sky Sports, 10 March], and since Clement arrived at Ibrox he has questioned the fitness of the squad [Scottish Sun, 20 October].
Worrying
There are plenty of players currently in this Rangers side who are unable to maintain their fitness this season, but Roofe is the most prominent example of the current state of the entire team because of his injury struggles last season.
The striker has shown that he is an incredibly helpful addition to the squad when he is fit and during the fairly bleak start to the campaign under Michael Beale, the 30-year-old was one of the brighter members of the otherwise ineffective strike force.
But he is no use to anybody from the sidelines and Rangers need to find a way to get him fit and firing sooner rather than later. However, recovering from an injury becomes a lot harder when nobody is quite sure what is wrong with the forward.

Hopefully, as investigations continue the Light Blues will be able to discover what is preventing Roofe from appearing consistently at Ibrox and then he can begin to make his return to fitness and in turn the starting XI and finally end this unfortunate fitness run.
Luckily for Clement’s side, they have plenty of depth in the forward areas now that Danilo has returned to fitness to challenge Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers in attack. Rangers should have enough forward talent to deal with Roofe’s continued absence if the summer signings start finding the back of the net.
In other Rangers news, Chris Jack has suggested that the Gers remain reliant on James Tavernier despite his recent poor form
