Philippe Clement makes Auchenhowie demand after new Rangers reveal

Philippe Clement has ordered his Rangers players to make regular use of a cryo chamber at their Auchenhowie training base after vowing to be tough on their fitness, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper shared in their print edition [1 November, back page] that the cyro chamber had barely been used before the boss’ arrival, pointing to a lack of use of the full fitness facilities.

As such, in a bid to deliver on his promise to improve the fitness of the playing squad, Clement has demanded they use the facilities, although the root of the deeper fitness issue at Ibrox will remain in-house.

Immediately solving the problem

Just weeks after arriving at Ibrox, the new boss is already cracking down on issues he clearly feels have become more deep-rooted at the club in a bit to resurrect the passion and belief at the club which seems to have faded in recent years since Steven Gerrard’s reign.

The fact that the real root of the problem is being kept in-house is both a positive and a negative step. The positive is that they have clearly figured out what to do, but in an era where almost everything is made public, it must be fairly severe to be kept a private matter.

It has become an unquestionable issue at Ibrox so far this season that the players’ fitness has not been up to scratch. Several key injuries coming at crucial times and before key fixtures have set them back, but the consistency of these injuries is the worry.

With Clement coming in to crack down on those fitness issues, with the new demands and expectations laid clear, there should be a marked improvement on that front in the coming weeks and months which will be an exciting development to see.
