Rangers may have found Alfredo Morelos 2.0 as Ibrox transfer news emerges

Rangers letting go of Alfredo Morelos over the summer felt like the end of an era at Ibrox, although it was certainly the right thing to do.

Ironically, the strikers coming to replace him have not performed much better with Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers struggling immensely with the pressure.

Danilo is starting to show signs that he has what it takes to handle the pressure, but Philippe Clement may already have one eye on the transfer window.

TeamTalk reported on Tuesday 31 October that the Bears have set their sights on Fluminese attacker Jhon Arias, as the Colombian livewire catches the eye.

The South American can play on the left, right and through the middle and would offer great versatility in an attacking sense with injuries already ravaging the squad.

Rangers scouts have already watched Arias and all eyes will be on the Copa Libertadores final next weekend as Fluminese take on Boca Juniors, in what is described as the biggest game of his career.

If Rangers can pull this off ahead of other interested parties from England, then it will be a great coup with a distant memory of a young Morelos appearing at Ibrox.

A Colombian export arriving with so many unknowns surrounding him, but if it pays off like that one did then it would be an instant win for everyone involved.

The 10-cap Colombian international may be available in January alongside some of his teammates, but there is interest from Premier League clubs such as West Ham.

If Rangers like what they see and the scouts are impressed, it may be good to start laying down some groundwork once the Copa Libertadores is over to steal a march on the opposition.

In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has claimed that a Gers first-team player will jump at the chance to leave Ibrox as a transfer story has emerged recently.
