Cyriel Dessers finally axed as Danilo to start – Predicted Rangers XI v Dundee

Philippe Clement looks set to make changes to his Rangers starting lineup for the midweek SPFL clash with Dundee on Wednesday night.

The Gers continued their unbeaten start under the new manager thanks to two late goals to beat Hearts 2-1 at Ibrox on Sunday, as they cut Celtic’s lead at the top of the table to five points.

But after Clement admitted that the club’s injury crisis has worsened, he may now be forced into making changes to his team for the trip to the Scot Foam Stadium.

Jack Butland is the man between the sticks and will keep hold of his number one shirt ahead of Robby McCrorie, with his good performances continuing since his arrival at Ibrox.

James Tavernier missed a penalty against Hearts but then scored a second one and got the assist for Danilo’s winner in the same game so will keep his place, while Ridvan Yilmaz should continue at left-back with Borna Barisic and Dujon Sterling still injured.

Connor Goldson and Ben Davies should continue in the middle with John Souttar ruled out due to a muscle injury, although Leon King and Leon Balogun are available and pushing for their first appearances under the new manager.

In midfield John Lundstram and Ryan Jack are almost certain to start with both Nicolas Raskin and Jose Cifuentes ruled out through injury, although Kieran Dowell will be with the squad and could get a surprise start.

Further forward Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence continue to be absent with injuries which means Abdallah Sima and Todd Cantwell should continue in advanced areas out wide, providing a goal threat and extra creativity for the forwards.

Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have both struggled so far in Glasgow since their summer arrivals, and with Danilofit enough to start after his goal at the weekend the Brazilian should get the nod from the start.

That means one of the other summer signings faces the axe, and with Lammers capable of playing a bit deeper to work alongside Danilo it means Dessers should find himself on the bench.

In other Rangers news, eight ruled out for Gers as fresh double injury blow revealed by Clement.
