Stuart Webber to quit job in two weeks with Rangers link already at Ibrox

Stuart Webber is set to officially quit his role at Norwich City in the next two weeks with links already to a new role at Rangers, according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist has reported on his Patreon [29 October] that the director of football is set to leave his job at Carrow Road early with the crossover now complete.

Webber had handed his notice in at Norwich back in June but looked likely to stick around until the end of the year, but that is now set to change.

Writing on his official Patreon page, Nixon said: “Stuart Webber’s days at Norwich City are about to end – in the next couple of weeks.

“Director of football Webber put in his notice in June and could have stayed for the rest of the year.

“But now the handover of power is complete and Webber can go early. He is linked with several posts, including jobs at Leeds and Rangers.”

Ibrox calling?

Rangers are still looking to put together a complete team that ticks all of the boxes for Philippe Clement.

The Belgian has already welcomed his close staff, but there were plans for more coaches with closer ties to Rangers to join too with the director of football role also a problem area.

Ross Wilson moved onto Nottingham Forest months ago, and he has still not been replaced, with John Bennett and James Bisgrove both admitting it is an area they are looking at.

With Graeme Souness also close to hopping on board in an advisory role, albeit more a professional one, this process could now move forward quickly.

Webber has transformed Norwich, including great work with their academy and training ground, with promotion to the Premier League also on his CV there.

It will be interesting to see if this has any legs, but with a planned Mt Everest climb, it may not happen immediately.
