TalkSPORT pundit slams Graeme Souness after what he said about Rangers manager

Ian McCall believes Graeme Souness should not have said what he said about the Rangers managerial process that led to them appointing Philippe Clement.

The former Gers manager admitted that he would’ve gone for Lampard over the Belgian, which is not a decision that sat well with the fans.

McCall has gone on record to say that it was a bizarre thing to do from Souness.

Rangers

He said on talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Record: “With Graeme saying that, I didn’t think he’d be taking a position at Rangers and now it seems to be that he may be he is. Bearing that in mind I thought it was a bit of an utterly bizarre and needless thing to say.”

Spot on

Souness’ comments about the Rangers’ managerial situation have raised eyebrows and sparked discontent among the fans and many believe he should be out of the club’s internal affairs.

He is not currently associated with the club in any official capacity and he was brought on just as a consultant and nothing else.

His opinions, while valid as a football pundit, should be taken with a grain of salt, especially in sensitive matters like managerial choices.

Rangers

The Rangers board, staff, and executives are better equipped to make such decisions, given their comprehensive understanding of the club’s needs, goals, and the candidates’ qualifications.

Public statements like the one he made can disrupt the club’s internal harmony and create unnecessary distractions.

A football club needs to maintain a united front, with supporters, players and staff all aligned towards common objectives.

Fans may express their opinions, but outsiders, including former players like Souness who were involved at some stage, should respect the club’s autonomy and let them manage their affairs as they see fit.

In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has claimed that a Gers first-team player will jump at the chance to leave Ibrox as a transfer story has emerged recently.
