Philippe Clement must start John Souttar in Rangers v Hearts after 100% display against Sparta Prague

The Rangers attackers stole the headlines in the first match in charge for new manager Philippe Clement against Hibernian.

They were in fine form as the club picked up three league points in a 4-0 win against the Edinburgh outfit last Saturday (21 October).

The manager continued his good start to life in the Gers dugout as his men played out a goalless stalemate with Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday (26 October). And in that match it was the defenders who were key, with centre-back John Souttar particularly standing out.

As per Sofascore, as well as keeping a vital clean sheet, the 27-year-old won both of his aerial duels (100%), three of his five ground duels, was successful in his only dribble attempt and made one key pass.

But his superb display didn’t end there, with Souttar making a huge nine clearances and three interceptions. The Gers are now just two points off top spot in Group C of the Europa League, with three matches left to play.

But their focus now turns back to the Scottish Premiership, with Hearts making the trip to Ibrox on Sunday (29 October).

New Gers manager Clement has plenty of big decisions to make for that one, but Souttar should be among the first names on the teamsheet following his display against Sparta Prague.

The defender is certainly experienced enough to not let his emotions get the better of him on Sunday, having spent six years at the Edinburgh club before his switch to Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Clement must put the Gers board under pressure to sign one player as Ibrox transfer news emerges.
