Phillipe Clement to axe Todd Cantwell, two changes – Rangers predicted XI v Hearts

Philippe Clement is predicted to make two changes to his starting line-up as Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action by welcoming Hearts to Ibrox on Sunday.

Ben Davies and Todd Cantwell are predicted to be axed by Clement after they lined up in the Thursday night 0-0 draw against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

Davies, 28, started at left-back due to Borna Barisic and Dujon Sterling missing the trip to the Czech Republic due to injury and Ridvan Yilmaz being ruled out due to not being named in Rangers’ Europa League squad.

Yilmaz, 22, is available this weekend and is predicted to start at left-back over Davies even though the Turkish full-back has started just three games in all competitions this term.

Cantwell, 25, could also be dropped in favour of Scott Wright after the ex-Aberdeen ace played well in the 4-0 hammering of Hibernian last weekend.

Former Norwich star Cantwell has recently been injured and Clement might not risk him starting two games within the space of a few days, meaning he could be dropped for the league meeting with Hearts.

Jack Butland is predicted to continue his run in goals after yet another good performance for the club on Thursday night in the 0-0 draw in Prague.

James Tavernier, John Souttar, Connor Goldson and Yilmaz could make up the back-four in front of the English shot-stopper.

Nicolas Raskin and John Lundstram are likely to line up in the centre of the midfield with an attacking quartet in front of them made up of Wright, Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers.

Clement does have other options in his attack but he seems to be taking it easy with Kemar Roofe and Danilo right now due to possible fitness concerns.

While they may start, Clement could offer Lammers and Dessers another chance to shine after they impressed in the Belgian manager’s debut as Rangers boss last week against Hibs.

In other Rangers news, Tom English cannot believe what Graeme Souness has said about the Gers.
