Chris Jack shares fears over Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland after what he has seen
Chris Jack says it is understandable to “fear the worst” with regards to the future of Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Butland produced another fine display on Thursday (26 October) to help the Gers to a 0-0 draw away at Sparta Prague in the Europa League.
The 30-year-old has been the standout performer among Rangers’ numerous summer arrivals, but Jack expects other clubs to show an interest.
Speaking on the Rangers Review podcast [27 October, 10m 22s], Jack said: “He keeps producing. He’s come in with big gloves to fill but has gone a long way to showing he has all the attributes to replace Alan McGregor.
“If he’s here until 40 I think a lot of people would take that, but I do fear the worst. There will be interest in Jack Butland – it’d be daft to say otherwise.
“It’s something Rangers have always been aware of given his age and profile. They are fully aware that offers may well come, and there may be interest in him.”
Inevitable interest
Butland has undoubtedly been the best of Rangers’ buys from the summer window – not that there is a whole lot of competition for that award.
Signing the Englishman in the summer was considered a coup of sorts at the time, and so that has proved with his performances since arriving.

The former Manchester United stopper signed a four-year deal at Ibrox, so the Gers will not be forced to sell should a sizeable offer come in.
On the basis of what we have seen so far, there will no doubt be interest south of the border, possibly as early as the next transfer window.
Rangers must ensure they reject any interest, though, because they cannot afford to be without Butland right now.
It may well be that he is only around for a couple of seasons before moving on, so let’s make the most of him while we have him.
In other Rangers news, a BBC Sport journalist has been left surprised by comments from an Ibrox figure.
