Rangers starting XI prediction v Sparta Prague as controversial Scott Wright decision made

Derek Clark has predicted that Scott Wright will start for Rangers in their Europa League showdown with Sparta Prague on Thursday 26 October.

Rangers Review writers Clark and Joshua Barrie selected their Rangers XI ahead of the clash in Prague, agreeing on 10 out of the 11 starters.

Both agreed that Ben Davies should start over Adam Devine at left-back after it emerged that Borna Barisic and Dujon Sterling didn’t travel with the squad due to injury.

Clark, though has suggested that a potentially controversial decision may be made to start Wright: “Perhaps controversially, Scott Wright would keep his place in the team.

“His inclusion against Hibs raised a few eyebrows but, particularly on European evenings when the team needs to be disciplined, Wright is someone you can generally rely upon to do what is asked of him.”

Decisions.

Both writers unanimously agreed that Jack Butland would start in goal, while James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Davies would line up in front of him.

Abdallah Sima, Nicolas Raskin and Dessers, all of whom were on the scoresheet against Hibs, will no doubt start again in Prague. John Lundstram and Cantwell are also likely to be certain starters.

Philippe Clement’s main selection dilemma appears to be whether to start Wright or Lammers.

Rangers will be looking to bounce back tonight after losing 2-1 in Cyprus against Aris Limassol in their last Europa League outing as Clement looks to make it two wins out of two since he replaced Michael Beale as manager.

It is all to play for in Group C with all four teams locked level on three points apiece.

The Gers lost last time they played Sparta away from home two years ago, but they advanced through the group stage and made it all the way to the final.

Wright played his part in that run, appearing in 12 Europa League games including starting the final against Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville, could he have a similar impact tonight?
