Nicolas Raskin should be dragged off after anonymous 45 mins for Rangers v Sparta Prague

Nicolas Raskin failed to impact the first half at all for Rangers against Sparta Prague, as he looked uncomfortable in possession and provided very little for his side.

Playing in midfield slightly behind Todd Cantwell and Sam Lammers, alongside John Lundstram, he failed to make a difference in the middle of the park.

Clement will no doubt be disappointed by his team’s performance so far, and he needs to change something if they want to get a foothold in the game, with Raskin the expendable party.

Rangers

Raskin was especially weak in his duels and got bullied in midfield, lacking behind the tempo of the game and too often succumbing to the press of Rangers’ opponents, rushing on the ball and failing to show his creative edge going forward.

Of six attempted duels, Raskin succeeded in just two of them at a rate of 33%, failing to compete in any aerial duels as he was dominated both in and out of possession.

He completed 12 of 13 attempted passes as he looked to keep things simple and retain possession, but when he tried to run with the ball he was rushed and struggled. Raskin lost possession four times and committed a foul, with 0% dribble success in the opening 45 minutes. [Sofascore]

Rangers

Even the defensive side of his game was lacking as he struggled to make a difference in the middle. He made two tackles but failed to make an interception or draw a foul to ease the pressure on his team.

With Ryan Jack waiting on the bench having returned from injury, he could find himself on in the second half to bring more of a calm feeling to their play on the ball, after a poor first half in Prague, with the home side the more impressive outfit thus far.

In other Rangers news, Clement will be fuming at a £5million waste.
