Craig Moore wants ‘important’ Graeme Souness Rangers return, ‘absolutely makes sense’

Craig Moore claims it “absolutely makes sense” for Graeme Souness to return to Rangers in an advisory role.

Speaking on Go Radio (26 October), the pundit hailed the former Gers boss as a man with the “credibility” to perform well in the role due to his love for the club.

Transfer insider Jim White claimed, as reported by the Daily Record (20 October), that Souness would be returning to Ibrox in an advisory capacity.

Moore said: “For me, Souness absolutely makes sense. I think it’s a role which needs to be at Rangers football club.

“Somebody with that nous, credibility, who’s not an administrator, who’s a football person and who will be able to pick up the phone to anybody involved in the game anywhere in the world.

“His passion and love for Rangers is also important. There needs to be that kind of fit now for Rangers because unfortunately, with Michael Beale and the signings scenario and how that happened, and now potentially a new manager having to deal through that.”

Bring him in

Souness’ punditry days seem to be behind him after leaving Sky Sports at the end of last season, so he certainly has the capacity to help out his old side.

The former boss helped the Rangers board with their managerial appointment after Beale’s departure, so he is very in touch with the current status and condition of the club.

Rangers

Rangers lost their way in the closing weeks of Beale’s era and the Ibrox faithful will be very hopeful that Philippe Clement is the man to bring them back to glory from the dugout, but having a man of Souness’ passion behind the scenes could be very significant if the Gers want to return to their former glory.

During a period of instability, having a statesman-like figure overseeing the club can only be a benefit, and few know Rangers like Souness does.

In other Rangers news, a manager linked with the Ibrox job before Clement took the role has made a “massive” new admission.
