talkSPORT host Ally McCoist slams ‘absolutely ridiculous’ shameful acts in Rangers v Hibs match
Rangers legend Ally McCoist slammed the “absolutely ridiculous” Hibernian supporter who allegedly mocked the Ibrox disaster.
The Edinburgh Evening News reported on Monday (October 23) that a ban had been issued after parts of Ibrox were defaced during Rangers’ 4-0 win on Saturday (21 October).
The newspaper said one male fan has been banned indefinitely, while vowing to punish any others found to be involved.

McCoist, speaking on talkSPORT in quotes reported in the Daily Record’s print edition (25 October, page 45), hit out at the actions.
“I actually don’t think football is the problem there, I don’t. That’s a mental problem with someone. That is people who are not right in the head to be brutally honest with you,” he said.
“Who in their right mind goes to organise stickers and celebrate the death of people? It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Sickening
It is unthinkable that a loss of life in such a tragic incident should be used as a way to bait rival supporters.
Sixty-six supporters were killed as part of a crush as fans to tried to leave the stadium after a game with Celtic in January 1971.
What sort of individual do you have to be to derive pleasure in mocking that fact? It is frankly sickening and honestly a little worrying about our society that people think that is acceptable behaviour.
In fairness, Hibs acted swiftly to impose a ban and let’s hope it is an extremely lengthy one, and the club are also trawling through CCTV images to see if there were other perpetrators so fair play for their swift actions.
We all enjoy rivalry in football, and some friendly chanting from the terraces is absolutely fine. But this went totally beyond the realms of what is acceptable and McCoist is absolutely right to be condemning the actions.
In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement should be putting pressure on the board to sign Abdallah Sima permanently.
