Sparta Prague boss warns his players about Aballah Sima ahead of Rangers showdown

Sparta Prague boss Brian Priske has warned his players about Abdallah Sima, with the forward in top form for Rangers in recent games.

Sima has scored seven goals in his last seven games for the Ibrox club, earning plaudits from fans and pundits, and now the opposition manager singling him out ahead of their clash.

The forward has played against Sparta Prague before during his time at their biggest rivals Slavia Prague before he signed for Brighton, from whom he is now on loan at Rangers, and he will know all about their opponents.

Speaking to Czech news outlet iSport on 25 October, Priske commented: “The team is full of quality players, we know about Sima, who you surely know from the Czech league.

“We have to watch out for him, he is in form, he is scoring goals. But on the European stage, all positions matter. It will be a difficult match, but we believe in ourselves.”

Easier said than done

Plenty of managers would have told their team the same thing in recent weeks ahead of clashes against Rangers, but stopping Sima is easier said than done. His pace, timing and clinical finishing would cause trouble for any team, and this has been exemplified in his recent displays.

With seven goals in his last seven games, and nine overall so far this season, the forward has hit top form and is showing no signs of slowing down in the near future.

Rangers

The start to Philippe Clement’s Rangers career looks like it may provide another boost to Sima’s game. The forward scored a brace against Hibernian at the weekend, with the new tactical style playing perfectly to his strengths.

Clement’s side sat deep and hit on the break, looking to exploit Sima’s pace, and his clinicality in front of goal was displayed more than ever. If the boss can keep him performing at such a high level, there is no reason he would find himself slowing down.

In other Rangers news, one Gers-linked boss has made a new admission.
