Ex-Premier League referee in awe of Rangers as official post emerges

Former Premier League referee Jeff Winter was in awe of a social media post Rangers shared which announced the continuation of the annual Remembrance Day event.

Taking to X (25 October), Winter, a Rangers fan, praised the club’s tradition as a “sentiment like no other”, with the Gers planning a card display from the Main Stand of Ibrox.

Rangers pay their tribute to those who served annually, with this season’s set for their clash against Hearts on Sunday 29 October.

Winter said: “Remembrance Day at Ibrox, a sight and sentiment like no other, WATP.”

Respect

Winters is a huge Rangers supporter and is often seen at Ibrox, so his strong sentiment for the club’s actions here comes from his strong support for the team and the ceremony.

He was a Premier League referee between 1995 and 2004, with his final outing being the FA Cup final in 2004.

Rangers’ annual Remembrance Day displays are always done with class. Huge displays stretch across the entire stand which read words for those who fought for the country.

In previous years, cards have been held up to read “Lest we forget”, “Let me tell you a story of honour and glory”, and “Rangers Remembers”

The club seeks volunteers to set up the display in a touching way for fans to interact with the stadium. The club truly live up to the “we are the people” chant, and it would be no surprise to see Winter in the stands of Ibrox for the Hearts clash.

In other Rangers news, talkSPORT host Ally McCoist has slammed an “absolutely ridiculous” act in the Gers’clahs against Hibs.
