Gary Mackay-Steven wowed by Abdallah Sima in Rangers win v Hibernian
Gary Mackay-Steven and Andy Halliday were wowed by Abdallah Sima’s performance in Rangers’ 4-0 win against Hibernian, with the former particularly impressed with his second goal.
Mackay-Steven described the finish as “unbelievable” as the rest of the podcast members praised Sima’s display and the impact he has had so far this season.
The forward on loan from Brighton has scored seven goals in his last seven games as he continues his impressive run of form, and has stood out as one of the brightest spots in this Rangers side.

Speaking on the Open Goal podcast on 23 October [58:00], Simon Ferry claimed: “Sima is flying, isn’t he? Seven [goals] in seven [games],” to which Halliday replied: “You know what, he reminds me of [Fashion] Sakala.
“Sometimes not all that pleasing on the eye looks a bit raw, but he’s so effective and to be fair, a very good finisher.”
Mackay-Steven chimed in with: “The second finish is unbelievable,” as everybody began to give their assessments of the flying Rangers forward.
Glowing reviews
The way Sima is being spoken about now, given the lack of praise he had previously received despite an impressive start to his career at Ibrox, is a glowing endorsement of how good he has been for Rangers so far.
He is winning plenty of fans, having previously been lumped in the group with the summer signings who have failed to impress in Glasgow so far, but people are finally beginning to realise what he offers to this team and how good his performances have been.

Seven goals in seven games is no easy feat at any level, and the forward has stepped up in recent weeks while others hadn’t, particularly during the closing stages of Michael Beale’s tenure when times got tough.
The new style and setup under Philippe Clement seems to suit Sima perfectly, with the rapid counter-attacking breaks enabling him to use his pace and run in behind as we saw for his first goal against Hibs at Ibrox, and there should be plenty more where that came from.
In other Ibrox news, Sima has shared a “special” moment at Ibrox.
