Michael Beale doubles down on Rangers tenure before deactivating Twitter account

Michael Beale has deactivated his Twitter account having been spotted liking a post that praised the former Rangers boss’ work at Ibrox.

The former QPR manager was sacked by the Light Blues before the October international break, ending his 10-month tenure in Glasgow having overseen a miserable start to the Scottish Premiership season and failing to qualify for the Champions League.

While Beale produced a very classy message following his sacking earlier in October, Steven Gerrard’s former assistant has since deactivated his Twitter account after fans spotted that he had liked a post reflecting positively on his time in charge at Ibrox.

In a screenshot shared by Gavin Kelly on Sunday (22 October), Beale liked a post saying: “Rangers were very consistent under Beale. In fact, we’ve never had a manager win so consistently in our 150-year history.

“Did the team struggle at the start of the season? Yes. It had just been assembled and then was hit with an injury crisis. This team could well be great.”

Further screenshots from Kelly then show that Beale locked his account before deleting it, ensuring that no record of his tweets or liked tweets can be viewed currently.

Let it go

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Beale appears to think that he shouldn’t have been sacked by Rangers this season as that is typically the case whenever a manager is relieved of their duties at every club, they normally believe that given time they could turn a team’s fortunes around.

There is also an argument that this team were in the early stages of bonding together, given the immense level of turnover both in and out of the club over the summer transfer window and the former QPR boss was contending with a sizeable injury crisis.

Rangers

But all those caveats are quickly thrown to the wayside when Philippe Clement arrives at Ibrox and wins his first game 4-0 having only spent a couple of days with his new squad. It’s hard to suggest Beale deserved more time when the Belgian has got it right so quickly.

Should this team go on to become successful and win trophies in the process, very little credit will be afforded to the man who recruited them as Beale was unable to get a consistent tune out of his new signings and any silverware will be because of the work of Clement.

However, the abuse the former Rangers manager received over the weekend was unjust and it is a shame that he has felt the need to delete his account because of the backlash in the last few days. It would be best for supporters to just move on.

In other Rangers news, Clement was impressed by the relationship on show between the Light Blues players and supporters
