Chris Sutton names Rangers trio in Team of the Week after 4-0 win v Hibernian

Chris Sutton has named a trio of Rangers players in his team of the week after the impressive 4-0 win against Hibernian, with James Tavernier, Nicolas Raskin and Abdallah Sima all picked.

Sutton selected his team of the week in the print edition of the Daily Record [23 October, pg 40], and singled out the three Gers stars for praise after their displays in what turned out to be an enjoyable first game for new manager Philippe Clement.

Sima and Raskin were particularly impressive with their goals, while Tavernier stepped up for the second game running despite his up-and-down form so far this season.

The players deserve praise

While it has been a turbulent few weeks at Ibrox, this performance was one of a side willing to work to turn their fortunes around under the guidance of the new manager.

Tavernier is the epitome of this, with his display against St Mirren under Steven Davis, and now this performance against Hibs, showing how he can step up and be relied upon when times are tough, after early criticism of his form so far this season.

Sima, meanwhile, continued his fantastic vein of goalscoring form, taking his tally to nine for the season so far in all competitions and five in the league. He has been one of the standout performers so far this season since joining on loan from Brighton.

Raskin’s first goal of the season cemented a strong performance from him which will have given his new manager plenty of food for thought ahead of the Europa League clash with Sparta Prague on 26 October.
