Abdallah Sima shares ‘special’ moment in Rangers v Hibernian, with praise for Cyriel Dessers
Abdallah Sima says it is a special feeling to have scored seven goals in his last seven games for Rangers after a brace in the 4-0 win against Hibernian took his tally to nine for the season.
The flying forward has been one of the standout players at Ibrox since his arrival in the summer and looks like he will keep his good form up under the guidance of new boss Philippe Clement.
Sima was also keen to heap praise on Cyriel Dessers, who scored his second league goal of the season in the 4-0 win, claiming the squad are all happy for the player who has worked hard to turn his fortunes around.

Speaking to the Glasgow Times on 23 October, Sima shared: “It’s always special to score goals, so seven goals in seven games is really special for me.
“As a striker, it is very important for me to score goals and if I am scoring in almost every game it is helpful for my confidence. I feel it is getting higher all the time and I am hoping to score goals in every game. I have to keep going.
“But it’s not just about Abdallah Sima scoring. I am happy when any of the strikers, or anyone else in the team, scores goals. The important thing is that the team won the game.
“Cyriel [Dessers] was very happy to score and we were very happy for him also. For a striker, it is important to score. For him, it has been hard because he has not managed to score for a few games. So we are all happy that he has scored again.
“He is someone who works really hard for the team. In life, sometimes there are hard moments. But even in those moments, he has worked so hard and has remained positive.”

Time for the floodgates to open
Sima has had a hugely positive start to his career at Ibrox, despite flying under the radar somewhat until recently, he has been a consistent source of goals for Rangers and his tally of nine so far this season ranks him as the club’s top scorer.
Dessers has been rather the opposite. An awful start to the season and to his Rangers career had led to calls to get rid of him already, but he may have discovered a new lease of life under Clement’s management.
The hopes of everybody at the club will be that the floodgates will now open for Dessers and he can start banging them in on a consistent basis. Perhaps the change of boss will do him some good with a new style and tactics suiting his game.
For Sima, it’s a case of how long can he keep up his goalscoring form. If he can continue his average of a goal per game over his last seven, he could be the inspiration Rangers need to start to put the pressure on again.
