Humza Yousaf rages at ‘outrageous’ Rangers v Hibernian incident as images emerge

Humza Yousaf has raged at an incident that took place involving Rangers and Hibernian in the game on Saturday (21 October).

The First Minister of Scotland tweeted on Saturday that it was “outrageous” that Hibs fans had scrawled graffiti across several seats in the away end mocking the victims of the 1971 Ibrox disaster.

A number of seats had the number 66 written across them in green paint to reference the number of fans who tragically lost their lives, with Yousaf adding that it is a tragedy that “we remember and mourn to this day”.

“This is outrageous,” said Yousaf. “The Ibrox disaster is a tragedy we remember and mourn to this day. I am pleased to see the strong statement from Hibs to say they will work with Rangers to identify those responsible and take the most severe action possible.”

Shocking

It is absolutely shocking and vile to see that some Hibernian fans took it upon themselves to mock the victims of such an awful tragedy.

Yousaf is right to highlight the issue to ensure it reaches a wider audience because those individuals deserve the book to be thrown at them.

An awful lot of people will have been badly affected by the incident that took place at Ibrox on January 2, 1971, and to be reminded of it in this manner is just sickening.

James

It’s good to see that Hibs have made a strong statement and have committed to ensuring that those responsible will be dealt with in the appropriate manner.

It’s wrong on every level for any victims of any tragedy to be mocked in this way and it’s something that simply has to be eradicated from football.
