Rangers chase for Brighton's Sam Jewell 'Ongoing' as reliable journalist predicts final outcome
Rangers are in pursuit of Brighton chief Sam Jewell and their chase is “ongoing” after Fabrizio Romano’s reveal of a formal approach, according to Alan Nixon.
Journalist Romano reported on Wednesday (18 October) that the Gers had made a formal approach for the Brighton Head of Recruitment, as the club look to make moves behind the scenes to get back on track.
But when asked by a fan if it was a done deal or just noise, The Sun journalist Nixon claimed it was ongoing but admitted that he expected Jewell to stay in England.
“Ongoing.. could see him staying personally,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Expected
Rangers need all the help they can get behind the scenes, especially when it comes to the transfer window and there aren’t many people doing it better than Brighton right now.
The south-coast club are consistently bringing in bargain signings who perform spectacularly, while they also sell their star players for a premium to ensure that they’re stable.
Jewell is the head of recruitment there which means he has a huge say in things in that department, and his expertise at Ibrox would be a huge boost to the decision makers and would no doubt help Philippe Clement bring in his preferred targets.
But it would be a real surprise to see him turn down the lure and finances on display in the Premier League to come to Rangers, even if we are playing in Europe and challenging for titles regularly.
Brighton’s project is one of the best around and for him to walk away now would be questionable at best, so this seems like a pipe-dream at best for Rangers.
