Rangers forward Danilo shares social media message to fans after injury return

Rangers forward Danilo sent a four-word message to the Ibrox fans after returning to training on Tuesday following his cheekbone injury.

The £6m [Sky Sports] Michael Beale addition was spotted in training on Tuesday afternoon (17 October), wearing a protective mask following his having fractured his cheekbone during the Gers’ win over St Johnstone on 16 September after he headed home the opening goal after 16 minutes.

The Gers are gearing up for their first game under newly-appointed manager Philippe Clement on Saturday (21 October) when they take on Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

And Danilo, taking to his personal Twitter account (17 October), sharing images of himself in good spirits after returning from his four-week injury spell.

He tweeted: “Work hard, trust God.”

Clement delight

Danilo wasn’t the only key man pictured in Rangers training pictures on Tuesday but Todd Cantwell also.

It will be a huge boost to both the Rangers fanbase and new boss Clement to see both of these stars back training with the first team as they have been missed incredibly during their time out of the side, which coincided with the defeats that ultimately cost Beale his job.

The collision at McDiarmid Park was nasty to say the least, denying the 24-year-old the chance to celebrate his goal in front of the Gers fans after such a brave and clinical header.

That goal was supposed to help Danilo kick-start his Ibrox career and the injury came at the wrong time.

However, there is the hope that the Brazilian can burst into goalscoring form like fellow mask-wearer Victor Osimhen did after he returned from a similar injury last year.

The Gers need a regular and consistent goalscorer right now if Clement and his men are to have any chance of catching Celtic who are seven points clear already.

Danilo’s return is a welcome boost for the Belgian coach who faces a huge task of getting these players firing on all cylinders again, and quickly.
