Rangers to communicate final manager decision on Sunday, Ibrox announcement just days away
Rangers will tell either Kevin Muscat or Philippe Clement they want him as their new manager on Sunday, according to Football Scotland.
The news outlet reported on Saturday (14 October) that Rangers chiefs are on the verge of hiring Michael Beale’s successor at Ibrox having whittled down their shortlist to just Yokohama F Marinos boss Muscat and out-of-work ex-Monaco manager Clement.
It is understood that a “final decision should be communicated” by the end of play on Sunday (15 October) with an announcement expected in the early days of the coming week.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported via Patreon on Friday (13 October) that 49-year-old Belgian Clement is the favourite at this point.
D-Day at Ibrox
This is it, Rangers fans. It seems as though the 19th permanent Rangers manager will be all but confirmed in the coming hours.
Worryingly, he’ll become the fourth manager to take charge of the Gers in the last two years after Steven Gerrard left for Aston Villa, Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked and Beale, who was relieved of his duties two weeks ago.

It was a well-timed decision by the Gers because although they lost in the Europa League to Aris Limassol, they got their Scottish Premiership campaign back on track with a win at St Mirren despite not having a full-time manager at the helm and have had a week of an international break to finalise their decision-making process.
Steven Davis’ job is a mixed one based on the results but it was hardly his fault that the Gers performed so badly in Cyprus because this is a squad that’s been absolutely botched together by a man clearly out of his depth in the summer in Beale.
Clement or Muscat, whoever replaces the hapless Londoner, has a big job on their hands.
In other Rangers news, personal terms have now been agreed for the managerial appointment.
