Rangers behind-the-scenes announcement update emerges after Philippe Clement decision

Rangers look set to announce another coach after confirming that Philippe Clement is their new first-team manager, according to Glasgow Times.

The Scottish media outlet reported on Sunday (15 October) that Stephan van der Heyden, the former assistant coach at Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters will follow Clement through the door at Ibrox.

He will be the number two at the 55-time champions as the Belgian’s assistant.

Good move

Van der Hayden has been a journeyman in the game and his experience will certainly be beneficial for the club under Clement.

He’s coached in Belgium, North Macedonia, India and Jordan so he undoubtedly will have encountered different styles of football.

Hopefully, he’s just what Clement needs to get Rangers playing the right brand of football as often a manager is as good as his assistant.

Often, they spend more time with managers on the training pitch as they work with individuals and can offer the shoulder after a fight with the head coach.

He’s also played football at the international level so he’s not just a run-of-the-mill coach who was a player.

There will be more backroom appointments made in the coming days as managers tend to bring in at least three or four known coaches.
