David Edgar shares ‘official word from Ibrox’ as Rangers new manager announcement due

Heart & Hand founder David Edgar has shared the “official word” from Ibrox as Rangers get close to announcing who’ll be their next manager.

It’s been widely reported that the final two candidates are Belgian manager Philippe Clement and ex-Rangers player Kevin Muscat, who’s currently in charge at Yokohama F Marinos in Japan.

The Heart & Hand Podcast is an official media partner of the Light Blues and Edgar has used his links to the club to find out what the situation is with regards to a successor for Michael Beale.

“Latest official word from Ibrox is that Rangers have completed the interview process and an announcement is expected by the club within the next 24-48 hours,” said Edgar via the Heart & Hand Podcast’s official Twitter account on Saturday night (14 October).

“They haven’t confirmed who the successful candidate is at this point.

Decision already made?

It’s likely that by now, John Bennett, James Bisgrove and co have already decided who the new manager will be out of Clement and Muscat.

Clement seems to be the resounding favourite for obvious reasons because he’s done well in jobs in Belgium and France while he’s also currently unattached.

Muscat, on the other hand, has failed in his one and only job in Europe – with St Triuden in Belgium – despite doing fairly well in Japan and Australia.

Rangers will have already likely told which man they want but it’s noticeable that Muscat is currently in charge of Yokohama as they play against Urawa Reds in a J. League Cup semi-final.

Would Muscat be there now if he’s expected to be in Glasgow within hours to sign on the dotted line and become the 19th permanent manager of Rangers Football Club?

It seems unlikely based on the overall timeline of the managerial process.

In other Rangers news, a new name has been thrown into the ring in the final hours of the managerial appointment process.
